North Carolina Compatriots!
Once again, for the 23rd consecutive year, the North Carolina Division of The Sons of Confederate Veterans, is sponsoring Confederate Flag Day at the historic old (1840) North Carolina State Capitol in the heart of Raleigh. This year, as in the past, Flag Day will be held on the first Saturday of March–March 5–at 2 p.m., in the historic House of Representatives chamber on the second floor of the Capitol. This year we are privileged to have as our guest speaker one of the finest and most inspiring orators in all the Carolinas—Compatriot Ronnie Roach of the Graham-Burlington Camp. He will give his inspiring talk on "The Charge."
I don’t know how many of you have heard Compatriot Roach speak, but he brings you to your feet, brings tears to your eyes, and makes you want to really go forth and defend–and advance–our traditions and our culture. You will not want to miss this unique event!
In addition to Compatriot Roach, we will feature musical selections by Ellis Selph and his musical group, an historic color guard, and other ceremonies. As usual, Rhonda Selph’s Watkin’s Grill (a short distance away) will offer its "Confederate specials" for lunch.
And very significantly, our First National flag will fly atop the State Capitol, one of three times during the year when this happens! (And how many other states can now say this??).
Make plans to attend now, and bring your family and friends. This is a truly unique opportunity to honor our flags, the men who carried them, and our historic Southern and Confederate Culture!!
See you there on Saturday, March 5, 2011!!
